A unique concept in Quebec FRELIGHSBURG, Thursday, September 18, 2008 – The organizers of PROJECT ECOSPHERE invite you to the 3rd edition of the ENVIRONMENT AND GREEN BUILDING FAIR which will be held in the great outdoors of the Brome Fairgrounds on September 27 and 28, 2008. This major event, dedicated to sustainable development and the environment, remains a gathering that is unique in Quebec for its country character and the quality of its exhibitors and lecturers. A special place to find the real tools to take action and make green choices.

PROJECT ECOSPHERE is proud to present PASCALE BUSSIÈRES, an actress who is very dedicated to the environment, as spokeswoman for a third year. Ecocommunicator “K,” alias Karine Lavoie, is the event’s honorary president. This young, dynamic and optimistic personality excels in the art of introducing fun to environmental commitment. For these two women, it is time for action!

Throughout the weekend, many lectures will discuss present environmental challenges, passing along the information and awareness mission of PROJECT ECOSPHERE. Big names such as Bernard Landry, Thomas Mulcair (NDP), Renée Frappier, Eric Darier (Greenpeace), Yves Perrier and Carol Vachon, all leading experts in their respective fields, will come to present their points of view. New for the third edition: a series of round table discussions hosted by experts, allowing visitors to get answers on the hot topics of the day, such as safe housing and healthy foods.

Once again this year, the event promotes the efforts of Quebec’s craftsmen and designers. Under the fashion and design banner, ethical, fair trade fashion will show its colours through some 30 exhibitors in its tent. Also on the program: The presentation of the best creations from the “Je m’emballe autrement” competition. Organized in high schools across Quebec, the goal of the competition is to promote the creation of gowns and clothes from recycled materials for their Prom Nights.

Of course the fair will also welcome some 170 exhibitors, including many companies and community organizations working in fields such as green architecture, new technologies, clean energy, organic farming, nature conservation, fashion and alternative medicines. Exhibitors will inform the public of the innovative goods and services available to make real green choices. The event will be enlivened by practical workshops, musicians and children’s activities, such as the grand kite ballet. It will also be possible to make some unique purchases in the organic country market booths. A CAA Quebec vehicle verification clinic and a visit to an ecological house are also on the menu.

The Brome Fair location, close to Bromont, Sutton, Brome Lake, Cowansville and Granby, is very welcoming for this big family and community gathering. Heritage buildings, an outdoor amphitheatre, a country market, healthy and creative restaurants, free parking, a daycare service and above all, large green spaces.
